Our place

India, by way of Hout Bay.

Indian Oven is a modern North Indian dining destination where bold food meets the easy social rhythm of Cape Town. Come for curry and tandoor; stay for the room, the music and the feeling around the table.

Why we’re here

Food sparks connection.

Between people, cultures, old favourites and new traditions. The point is not only what arrives on the plate, but what happens around it.

What we believe

Sophisticated enough to feel special. Relaxed enough to stay awhile.

We take the craft seriously without making the experience formal. Indian Oven should feel vibrant, warm, creative and sociable — a neighbourhood restaurant with enough energy to become part of your night.

01

Bold flavour

North Indian cooking is the heart of the room: layered masalas, tandoor smoke, generous spice and dishes made to be remembered.

02

Warm hospitality

Good service should feel personal, relaxed and generous — polished enough to feel special, easy enough to feel like your place.

03

Shared moments

The food starts the conversation. Music, cocktails, laughter and the people around the table are what turn dinner into a night out.

More than dinner

From tandoor smoke to jazz after dark.

The Indian Oven week has its own rhythm. Curry nights ease you in. Live jazz changes the pace on Wednesdays. Kolkata Sunsets brings cocktails, a DJ and a little more Thursday energy. The food is always central, but the experience keeps moving around it.

Rooted in Hout Bay

A local favourite. A reason to cross town.

We want regulars to feel known and first-timers to feel immediately welcome. That means food with character, hospitality with warmth and a restaurant that belongs to the neighbourhood around it.
